2018 ARC FAMILY CAMP - JULY 29 - AUG 4

 
 
 

Join us for ARC Family Camp 2018. This year promises to be a great time of teaching, recreation and maybe even some rest! 

You can enjoy some of our planned activities, spend time relaxing or enjoy some of the areas great parks, recreational areas and shopping. 

Canoe the St. Croix, visit the Trollhaugen Arial Park, Ride the Wild Mountain waterslides, or hike/bike the many trails in our area. 

ARC Family Camp is sure to provide you with just what you need to 'Come Away and Rest Awhile.'

 

 

Volunteers are needed for many different events!  If you are interested in being involved please contact Jill at arccamps@arc-aflc.org and she will get you plugged in!

Pastor Micah Hjermstad

Rev. Micah Hjermstad was born in Minneapolis, but grew up in various towns in South Dakota. He graduated from high school in 2000 and from the Association Free Lutheran Bible School in Plymouth, MN in 2002. He received a degree in Physical Education from Minnesota State University – Moorhead in 2006, and graduated and was ordained through the Association Free Lutheran Theological Seminary in 2010. He served a parish in Michigan for five years before being called in 2015 to St. Paul’s Free Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND, where he currently serves.

Pastor Kirk Thorsen

Rev. Kirk Thorson grew up at Helmar Lutheran Church, rural Newark, IL and attended AFLBS, where he met his wife, Jenn. They have 4 children: Will 12, Leah 9, Jude 6 and Lydia 4.  He is a 2007 graduate of the AFLC Seminar, currently serving as pastor of Living Word Free Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  His first 8 years were spent serving in Larimore and Mekinock, ND before moving to Sioux Falls three years ago.  Pastor Kirk enjoys spending time outdoors with family, fellowship with other AFLC families and pastors, and playing and watching sports. This is the first experience at the AFLC Family Camp for him and his family. They are looking forward to a great time of fellowship and studying God's Word together with us this summer.

Pastor Tonnes Pollestad

Tonnes Pollestad is married to Mary (Nelson) Pollestad.  He and his wife live in Andover, MN.  Pastor Pollestad was born and raised in Alsen, North Dakota.  He graduated from High School as 3rd in his class.   (There were only 7 in the class.)  He is a graduate of AFLBS and AFLTS.  He married Mary in 1974.  They have two daughters, two son-in –laws and 5 grandchildren.  Pastor Pollestad was an Industrial Arts Teacher for 8 years.  After the third calling from the Lord he attended our Association Free Lutheran Theological Seminary.  He interned in Cloquet, MN under the direction of Pastor Michael Brandt.  Pastor Pollestad served Maranatha Free Lutheran for 8 years.  After which he was the Director of Vision 2004 for 4 years and taught Bible Doctrine at AFLBS.   For 9 years Pastor Pollestad was a Regional Field Director raising funds within the Upper Midwest Territory for The Bible League.   During this time Pastor Pollestad continued to be a leader at Maranatha Free Lutheran Church in Spring Lake Park, MN.  Pastor Pollestad has his license as a Certified Christian Non-Profit Leader (CCNL) and now serves as the Development Director of the AFLC.  He travels 27 states contacting donors sharing information about the 10 ministries and assisting them to contribute to the ministry of their choosing.  

Tonnes’ life verse is; I Corinthians 15:58. “Therefore my beloved brethren be steadfast, Immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."

 
 

Young Adult sessions with Pastor Jonathan Unverzagt

Pastor Jonathan Unverzagt was born in Rochester, Minnesota, and grew up in nearby Kasson, Minnesota, where he graduated from high school in 1981. He attended two years at the Association Free Lutheran Bible School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, before heading to Moorhead State University where he graduated in 1987 with a degree in Speech Communications. 

After completing three years at the Association Free Lutheran Theological Seminary in Minneapolis and a one year internship in Ferndale, Washington, he took a call to a church in rural Jewell, Iowa, where he served for almost four years. He then followed God’s call to two churches in and near Dekalb, Illinois, where he served another four years. 

He is now the senior pastor at Christ Is Lord Free Lutheran Church in Onalaska, Wisconsin, where he has been serving the past seventeen years, with his wife Hope and eleven children (7 daughters & 4 sons). 

Pastor Jonathan is the director of Faith on Fire drama ministry and leads a team of young people on tours presenting God’s truths through drama. He is also a popular speaker, often using Gospel magic to demonstrate biblical principles. His talks on purity and courtship have been particularly well-received.
